Snooker - Campionatul Mondial 2017

Mark Selby, 33 de ani, a castigat, luni, 1 mai, Campionatul Mondial de Snooker care s-a desfasurat timp de 2 saptamani in Sheffield.

In finala, Selby a trecut cu 18-15 de scotianul John Higgins, reusind sa-si pastreze trofeul castigat anul trecut. Este cel de-al 5-lea jucator care reuseste sa-si apere titlul. Mark Selby a mai castigat Campionatul Mondial in 2014.

De partea cealalta, John Higgins a ratat sansa de a-l egala pe Ronnie O`Sullivan la numarul de trofee castigate, ramanand la cifra 4. Cele mai multe trofee le are Stephen Hendry, 7, urmat de Steve Davis, 6, si Ronnie O`Sullivan, 5. In finala desfasurata duminica si luni, dupa sistemul cel mai bun din 35, Higgins a condus la un moment dat cu 10-4, dar prima repriza s-a terminat 10-7. Mark Selby a egalat la 11 si apoi a condus tot timpul. La 16-12, John Higgins a avut o revenire de orgoliu apropiindu-se pana la 16-15.

Pentru Victoria din acest an, Mark Selby a fost recompensat cu 375 000 de lire sterline, iar Higgins a primit 165 500 de lire sterline.
